Methodology
ATC/DDD ALTERATIONS VALID FROM JANUARY 2008
Enclosed please find the lists of ATC and DDD alterations valid from January 2008.
ATC alterations
Immunosuppressants: Nine of the fourteen ATC 5th level alterations are due to the assignment of three new 4th levels in ATC group L04A Immunosuppressants, i.e. L04AB Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) inhibitors, L04AC Interleukin inhibitors and L04AD Calcineurin inhibitors. These substances were previously classified in group L04AASelective immunosupressants.
Tibolone: The classification of tibolone has been changed from ATC group G03DC Estren derivatives (Progestogens) to a new ATC 4th level group, G03CX Other estrogens.
Melatonin receptor agonistsMelatonin has been moved from N05CM Other hypnotics and sedatives to a new ATC 4th level N05AH Melatonin receptor agonists.
Agents for treatment of hemorrhoids and anal fissures for topical use: Some of the ATC level names in C05A Agents for treatment of hemorrhoids and anal fissures for topical use have changed, due to the assignment of a of a new ATC 4th level in C05AE Muscle relaxants.
TetrabenazineThe classification is changed from N05AK Neuroleptics, in tardive dyskinesia toN07XX Other nervous system drugs due to the use in management of movement disorders.
DDD alterations
Ceftezole: Only one DDD alteration is made. The DDD of ceftezole is changed from 6 g to 3 g, which is a correction of the DDD assigned 3 years ago.
